Carly Waddell Sets The Record Straight, Says She & Evan Bass Split After Thanksgiving And That It Was 'His Call': Watch

After Evan Bass’ ex-wife, Marie Bass, claimed that he and Carly Waddell split almost two years ago, the blonde beauty set the record straight about the questionable timeline.

“There’s been weird stuff going on about people asking me when we separated,” the Bachelor in Paradise alum, 35, revealed in a YouTube video, which was posted on Sunday, January 3. “We separated a day after Thanksgiving.

“We went to therapy,” she continued. “We focused a lot more on the kids than we focused on ourselves and, ultimately, I think that was our biggest downfall. ... If you don’t have a foundation for yourself, then you crumble.”

Waddell — who shares Charles “Charlie” Wolf, 1, and Isabella “Bella” Evelyn, 2 with Bass — then claimed that Bass was the one who wanted to call it quits. “I always told him, if he wanted out it was his call because I just am not a person that would ever be out. ... What are you gonna do? If somebody doesn’t wanna be with you, they don’t wanna be with you and you sage,” she said.

Waddell noted that the former flames “tried for a really long time to make it work," but ultimately, they had to go their separate ways. “The kids came at the top of the pyramid and we never put ourselves at the top. The last two years have just been really hard," she shared.

While showing off one specific room in the house, Waddell revealed that this was the place where Bass asked her to get a divorce. “He was sitting right where I’m sitting,” she said. “I found this house and Evan told me to buy this house and then he told me he didn’t want to live in it. So, here we are.”

Despite the drama, Waddell is looking forward to the future. “I think that 2021 is gonna be just great,” she said. “I’m focusing on the future and this is the last time I really want to talk about any of this because I don’t want to be sad anymore. I want to be happy because I deserve it.”

On December 31, Marie claimed that Evan and Waddell hadn’t been together since early last year. “I want to say it was February of ‘19 that she left and moved to Pegram,” she said. According to public records, the Bachelor Nation stars live in different towns in Tennessee.

“She left him when she wasn’t even showing with Charlie yet,” Marie said, referring to their 13-month-old son.

On December 27, Waddell got candid about spending the holidays alone. “Christmas is over. This is the part I was looking forward to the least because Evan came and got the kids and they’re gonna be so happy and they’re gonna have so much fun, but Charlie has never slept at anybody else’s house before. It’s not even like I’m worried about him, it’s just hard being away from him,” she said while getting emotional.

“I know this is the new normal but it just doesn’t feel normal. It feels awful,” the podcast host added.
