'What's Happening With Us?' Gwen Stefani Said Engagement To Blake Shelton Was Long Overdue — Watch
Pushed down the aisle? Gwen Stefani admitted that her fairytale engagement was more like a Cinderella story where the Prince didn't seem too keen on making the glass slipper fit.
During an interview with Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, January 6, the blonde beauty explained that Bake Shelton's proposal was long overdue — and that she was waiting around for him to pop the question!
"I was sort of like, 'What’s happening with us?' It was kind of in my mind like, 'We’ve been together a long time now. What's going on?' I was in that place in my head," she confessed to the The Tonight Show host.
"We have no plans because of the pandemic," Stefani added of the big day. "It's like, 'Blake, why couldn't you have done it before?' Now we can't have a wedding with the pandemic. It's like sitting around going, 'OK, drag it out more!'"
The "Hollaback Girl" singer announced the couple's engagement after five years together via social media on October 27. "Didn't have any idea, nobody knew," she told Fallon of the proposal.
Now that she finally has a ring on her finger, Stefani, 51, can get on with planning her dream wedding. OK! exclusively learned that the musicians are planning to wed at Shelton's ranch in Oklahoma with an exclusive guest list that only includes family and real close friends.
While they were hoping to have a second wedding in L.A. with all of their A-list celebrity pals, according to our source, Stefani and Shelton decided to have "one simple ceremony" due to the ongoing pandemic.
Despite holding out on the proposal, OK! previously learned that the country singer, 44, has big and eccentric ideas for the lovebirds' special day — which may set him back millions of dollars. "He's whipped himself into a frenzy about every detail and keeps making all these over-the-top demands," a source previously explained.
From holding a newlywed boat parade to insisting upon "getting gourmet food and premium champagne imported from Europe," Shelton is pulling out all stops.
The Voice coaches fell in love in 2014 amid both of their divorces from their previous spouses. Stefani was splitting from Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale — with whom she shares Kingston, 14, Zuma, 12, and Apollo, 6 — and Shelton was in the midst of a separation from country artist Miranda Lambert.
