Miley Cyrus Takes A Swipe At Donald Trump In Performance Of Diss Track 'Golden G String': Watch

Those who enjoyed listening to Miley Cyrus' epic diss to former president Donald Trump, in the form of her song "Golden G String," can now watch her actually deliver. The singer performed the tune as part of a concert series on NPR Thursday, January 29.

Dressed in a fierce outfit including clothing in various animal prints, sunglasses and a black cowboy hat, Cyrus delivered a variety of her songs in stripped-down form for Tiny Desk Concert. Fittingly, giving the series' name, she performed in a tiny teen-girl-style bedroom, with all the furnishings scaled down to create an artsy, cramped look. 

Cyrus trotted out "Golden G String" around the 4-minute mark in the above video, taking off her coat and getting down on her knees to send her message to Trump loud and clear: "The mad man’s in the big chair / And his heart’s an iron vault / He says ‘If you can’t make ends meet, honey, it must be your fault.'”

Cyrus explained last year on Apple Music's The Zane Lowe Show that the song, off her latest album Plastic Hearts, was written around 2017 or 2018, when Trump was well into his first and only term as president. She said the lyrical content “is reflective of Donald Trump as president and the men [who] hold all the cards — and they ain’t playing gin, and they determine your fate.” 

Cyrus added, presumably to critics of the song, that "it’s like our president grabs women by the...and you’re mad at me. I’m a pop star. I’m supposed to do these things. I’m supposed to do things that sometimes make you uncomfortable or you take offense. That’s kind of my job, that’s entertainment. I don’t want that in a leader.”

As for the concert, Cyrus also performed several other songs for fans, including a version of Mazzy Star's 1994 hit "Fade Into You."

The singer, who never shies away from shock value, recently made waves with a resurfaced interview in which she talks graphically about why she prefers women to men sexually.
