'Passing Along Kindness To Others': Alex Trebek's Son Matt Reveals They Donated Late 'Jeopardy!' Host's Wardrobe To Charity: Watch

Honoring his legacy! The late Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek’s son, Matt, appeared on Good Morning America to reveal that he donated his father’s wardrobe to charity because that’s exactly what the elder Trebek would have wanted.

“This kind of just fits into what he believed in, passing along kindness to others,” Matt said. “So it’s nice to see that it still continues even after he’s gone.”

The items, which include, 14 suits, 58 dress shirts, 300 neckties, 25 polo shirts, 14 sweaters and nine sports coats went to The Doe Foundation — which seeks to break the cycles of homelessness, incarceration and recidivism.

Matt went on to detail that his fathers wardrobe was quite large due to the many episodes of Jeopardy! he had hosted. “When you think that they shoot five shows a day, two days a week, they need to constantly make different combinations, so they had a large wardrobe,” he said, adding that his dad’s style was “pretty dapper” and he "definitely had his own particular taste in the way that he would dress.

"I remember that when I was growing up and he would try to dress me in suits. I think our styles differed, but he was obviously right with how he went about things," Matt added.

Alex's wife, Jean Trebek, gushed over her son’s “great idea” to donate his father’s suits to charity. “I had never heard about this amazing organization until Matt brought it to my attention…,” she wrote on Instagram. “It truly is so wonderful. It warms my heart to know that Alex’s suits will be donated to such an important cause.”

As OK! previously reported, Alex died on Saturday, November 7, after a lengthy battle with stage four pancreatic cancer. He was diagnosed with the disease in March 2019. While Trebek remained “optimistic” that he would regain his strength through chemotherapy treatment, his health continued to deteriorate up until his tragic passing.
