Scott Peterson's Sister-In-Law Claims New Evidence Will Exonerate The Convicted Killer In Brutal Slaying Of Wife Laci & Unborn Son
New evidence could potentially exonerate convicted killer Scott Peterson!
Scott has continuously maintained his innocence in the disappearance and death of his wife, Laci, and their unborn son, Conner.
Laci, who was 27 years old at the time, mysteriously disappeared on Christmas Eve in 2002. Scott told authorities that he went fishing in his new boat and left their Modesto home at 9:30 a.m. When he returned to his house later that afternoon, he called his mother-in-law and told her that his pregnant wife was nowhere to be found.
The brunette’s remains and the body of her unborn child were found in the San Francisco Bay — just a few miles from where Scott claimed he had gone fishing — by someone walking their dog nearly four months later. Scott was eventually convicted on two counts of first degree murder and sentenced to death in 2005.
He remained on death row until 2020, when his death sentence was overturned, he is expected to face a new penalty phase trial at some point this year.

In a new interview, Scott’s sister-in-law is claiming the timeline of the murder is wrong and the new proof could set him free.
“There's evidence that was completely ignored that shows Laci was alive after [Scott] left for the day," Janey Peterson, who is married to Scott's brother, said on the Today Show Wednesday, August 25. “But also, there was no evidence that he had anything to do with what happened to Laci.”
During Scott’s initial trial, jurors heard of his indiscretions, including a months-long affair with Amber Frey, whom he lied to regarding his relationship status when he met her.
Janey admitted that although Scott is a cheater, it doesn’t make him a cold blooded killer. “I don't think you can take that leap,” she explained.
Janey is attending law school in the hopes that she will be able to assist her family member if he is granted a new trial. She also believes the true murderer is still out there. “We don't have justice,” she added. “This crime is not solved.”
