The source said, the former American Idol judge  has been trying to stay sober and continue on the right path while touring, and he's found it difficult to have a relationship with Erin while doing so.

“Steven has been trying to maintain his lifestyle and to stay clean. The tour is really important to him and the band. So he decided to end it.”

In addition, Erin hasn't really fit in with the band and that hasn't been easy.

“She’s been kind of a Yoko Ono character,” claimed the source.

But a rep for Aerosmith said: “Just as any couple goes through trials and tribulations in a relationship, Steven and Erin are asking for their privacy at this time. They are engaged to be married and each is committed to their sobriety. Any claim to the contrary is absolutely false and misleading.”

The band is on the verge of releasing a new album for the first time in 11 years titled Music From Another Dimension and will be promoting their new material on their “Global Warming Tour.”
