Chelsea Handler and beau Jo Koy made their red carpet debut as a duo at the 2021 People’s Choice Awards on Tuesday, December 7.
The comedians sported matching black and white ensembles as they lovingly strolled down the carpet together. While chatting with E! pre-show host Laverne Cox at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif., the 46-year-old dished about falling in love with her pal of nearly two decades.
“I never hated Jo Koy,” she spilled to the Orange Is the New Black alum, who noted she was surprised to hear the pair were dating after Handler gave the fellow comic a tough time during his many appearances on her talk show, Chelsea Lately.
“In retrospect that was my version of flirting,” the My Horizontal Life author explained. “I think I was so out of touch with my own emotions that that was my currency… He keeps telling me that I've been in love this whole time and didn't know it so I'm just choosing to believe that.”
While accepting PCA gold as the Comedy Act of 2021 winner for her show Vaccinated and Horny, she thanked her fans and gave a special naughty shout out to Koy. “How cool is this?,” the stand-up comedian said. “Oh, thank you so much to everybody who spent the time voting for me.” She also thanked her family members who she explained jokingly “voted for me several times.”
“Thank you everybody and for everybody who’s come out to see my show and to all the straight white men who have been dragged out to see my show by their spouses or girlfriends or daughters,” the This Means War actress continued.
Handler then shared her NSFW plans she had with the 50-year-old comic after the show. “And speaking of brave men, everything is sweeter in life because I have Jo Koy with me. I’m just so happy to share all of this with you and everything with you and now we get to go home together and have more fun there.”
